Want to learn how to ice skate?
You're in the right place!
Vacaville Ice Sports offers skating lessons for ALL ages & abilities, from tiny tots to adults. Our Skating Academy is designed to take a student step by step from very basic skating skills to an advanced competitive level. Group lessons are taught by our highly qualified coaching staff with an excellent student-teacher ratio. Skate rental is always included.

All registrations require a DaySmart Recreation account (even in-person drop-ins at the door!).

Classes are offered in 8-week semesters approximately:
Jan-Feb / Mar-April / May-June / July-Aug / Aug-Sept / Oct-Nov

Can't commit to the full semester? No problem! Just select the drop-in option on the dates that work for you.
*Please note, you must be 18 years of age or older to create a DaySmart account. Parents/Guardians should add their child to their account under "Add Family Member".
*Registration for full semester is only open until week 4 of current semester.
WHAT TO WEAR
-
Warm clothing, jackets, and long pants that allow movement. Bring layers in case your child gets warm or cold.

Helmets are not required but are strongly encouraged, especially for children under 6 years old. A simple bike helmet is perfect! Please note, we do not provide helmets.

Gloves! Hands tend to get very cold.

Crash pads if your child is sensitive to falls.

Skill badges. During your first or second class, your child should receive a skill badge. Please be sure to wear this to every class! This is how instructors track their progress and how the child will receive stickers for a job well done!

Our Classes
BEGINNER AGE 5 & UNDER (TOT)
This class is specially designed for our littlest adventurers who are eager to take their first steps on the ice.

We understand that young children may feel a bit apprehensive at first, so our instructors are trained to create a fun and engaging atmosphere to help them feel comfortable on the ice. We also allow one parent or guardian to join them in the class free of charge! A familiar face can sometimes make all the difference.
​
During the class, your child will learn fundamental skills such as balance, coordination, and proper technique. Our instructors will use age-appropriate teaching methods and interactive games to make the learning process enjoyable and effective.

ADULT SKILLS
AGES 16+
In this class, our experienced instructors will focus on teaching and refining the fundamental techniques of ice skating. From proper balance and edge control to turns and stops, our instructors will provide step-by-step guidance to help you develop a strong foundation.

We understand that adult learners have unique needs and goals, which is why our instructors tailor the class to accommodate different skill levels. Whether you're a beginner looking to gain confidence on the ice or an intermediate skater aiming to refine your technique, our instructors will provide personalized instruction to meet your specific needs.

BEGINNER AGES 6-15 (PRE-ALPHA)
This class is designed to introduce skaters to the exciting world of ice skating and help them develop a strong foundation in basic skating skills.

During the class, your child will learn essential skills such as balance, proper technique, and basic maneuvers on the ice. Our instructors will use a combination of drills, games, and exercises to make the learning process engaging and enjoyable.
​
Whether your child dreams of becoming a competitive figure skater or simply wants to enjoy recreational ice skating, this class will provide them with a solid foundation to pursue their goals. They will gain confidence, improve their coordination, and develop a love for this graceful and exciting sport.

ALPHA, BETA, GAMMA
At Vacaville Ice Sports, we follow the ISI (Ice Sports Industry) standards of testing and skill level advancement. Skaters in these levels will continue working on their skating skills with a focus on crossovers, backward skating, edge work, different stopping techniques, and more!

INTRO TO HOCKEY
This class is designed for individuals who are new to the exciting world of ice hockey and are eager to learn the fundamentals of the sport.
​
In this class, our experienced instructors will guide you through the basics of ice hockey in a safe and supportive environment. Whether you have never stepped foot on the ice before or have limited experience, our instructors will ensure that you feel comfortable and confident as you learn the most essential skill of the game; SKATING!
​
Whether you aspire to join a recreational league, play with friends, or simply want to improve your skills, this class will provide you with a solid foundation in skating skills. Our instructors are dedicated to helping you develop your abilities while fostering a love for the game.

DELTA & ADVANCED FREESTYLE 1-6
At Vacaville Ice Sports, we follow the ISI (Ice Sports Industry) standards of testing and skill level advancement. Skaters in these levels will begin working on jumps, spins and additional advanced maneuvers such as lunges, bunny hops, spirals and more!

Join us as we combine the joy of skating with the convenience of utilizing educational funds for an active learning experience.
